The General Operating Support grant will provide broad-based funding for health equity focused initiatives in Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY – Today Brooklyn Communities Collaborative (BCC) – a non-profit focused on strengthening health and wealth in Brooklyn – announces that it has been awarded a general operating grant of $300,000 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), an organization committed to improving health and health equity in the United States.

The General Operating Support award offers flexible support to organizations to support operations including annual operating expenditures, reserves, technology improvements, organizational capacity, and projects.

“We are thrilled to have this support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation,” said Shari Suchoff, Executive Director of BCC. “These funds will support core BCC priorities including our healthy housing, Brooklyn Health Enterprise Hub, and Strong Communities Fund initiatives. This grant allows us to continue to develop programs and invest in the health and economic wellbeing of Brooklyn communities.”

BCC’s innovative approach to addressing health inequities relies on three interrelated priority initiatives: Healthy Housing, a public-private effort to expand housing stability; the Brooklyn Health Enterprise Hub focusing on economic development, from job opportunities to increased investment in local minority and women-owned businesses; and the Strong Communities Fund, which builds the capacity of community-based organizations (CBOs) on the ground to improve community members’ access to direct services affecting their health and wellbeing.
